Panel Appointed to Review Selection of Dubai as a Location for 2018 World Championships Last week the President’s Council of the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA) met to review the community’s response to the announcement that World Coffee Events (WCE) selected Dubai as one of three host cities for the 2018 world championships. Today the President’s Council would like to formally announce that a panel has been created to review the selection of Dubai and provide recommendations on future processes for selecting host cities for WCE and other SCA events. The WCE has since its inception been solely responsible for selecting the locations for its events. Espressofest aftermath!

This year for the first time we saw the UKBC taking place at Espressofest, a mini festival built around the Championships. It's aim was to bring coffee lovers and industry people together. With courses on sensory communication, home-brewing and seminars on why you should compete, the goal was to educate and appeal to a wider audience. And of course to watch the finals of the UKBC where we crowned Dale Harris of Hasbean Coffee as our 2017 UKBC champion. Dale will go on to represent the UK at the Barista World Championships in Seoul this November, for now it's daily practise and prep till then! Espressofest - what's going on.

This Saturday and Sunday - 19th and 20th of August - we see the semi finals and finals of the UK Barista Championships 2017. The competitions run along side educational content and workshops curated by London School of Coffee. Tamper Tantrum will have an excellent lineup of speakers sharing knowledge, opinion and insight during the finals on Sunday.  Don't forget tickets cost £6 each and cover both days; Saturday 19th August 9am to 6pm and Sunday 20th August 9am to 5pm.
